This is for the men and partners out there that might want a little sexy piece of lingerie for the big day but haven’t got a clue. Roadie has tried to buy lingerie for me in the past and unfortunately it has not worked too well. Either the sizes were to small – thank you dear I appreciate your support – or the outfits looked bad with my body type. So here are some tips to selecting an outfit for your special midlife woman.
Body type
1) Pears – Someone with a larger butt and thighs is considered a pear shape. Outfits for this body shape should draw your eyes up and away from the problem areas. I would suggest shelf bras or demi bras with details like lace or ribbons, etc. (Stay away from feathers, they are a pain).
Women with large thighs have trouble finding thigh-high hose that don’t create the ugly muffin tops over the sexy lace tops. Garters or flying gear are a bit hard to make look good. If you are determined, try finding hose that have a size such as large or x-large. For god’s sake stay away from One Size Fits All. The correct label should say One Size Fits All Mannequins and Models.
2) Apples – Someone with an apple shape is larger around the stomach. Again you want your eyes to move away from the problem area, so you have two choices. You can either camouflage the stomach with sexy teddies, camisoles, baby dolls or night gowns that flow open in the back or side. Or you can give the waist some shape with a corset or waist cincher. The idea is to purchase something that pulls the eyes to the breast and legs, or gives shape to the stomach.
Women with large middles can usually accentuate their legs with patterned hose and flying gear. Consider the lingerie in which the garters are built into corsets, teddies or dresses. The garter belts or flying gear don’t always fit the middle well or can roll down over a bigger belly. Again, One Size Fits All, usually means it only works on the perfect figure.
3) Sticks – Someone without curves often focuses on their lack of a curvy butt or lack of breasts. Listen to her when she complains about an outfit not fitting. Most likely she is complaining more about her body. By all means, don’t buy something that accentuates the area she hates most. If she doesn’t like her butt, look at drawing attention to breasts. Lingerie with open nipples or exposed breasts will draw attention away from the back. If she doesn’t like her small breast, consider tops with ruffles or lace. This gives depth and the illusion of fuller bosoms.
Women in the thin, less curvy range can wear those super sexy two piece outfits so you are in luck. Play up her middle and avoid those areas she doesn’t like.
Bras
I have already mentioned a few tips about buying sexy lingerie in my post Top 5 Tips for Sexy Bras so here’s a few more for the men.
- Go ahead and check out the bra size so you can get the right size. If you are picking out something for an every day type of undergarment, try to stick with the store/designer she normally wears. For example if she buys from Victoria’s try to find something with them. There are great differences in designers and as I have learned a 36 in Victoria’s is not the same as a 36 with Fredericks.
- If she wears a C cup or larger she will need underwire support and/or padding. This is especially true if she has nursed a few babies and the girls are sagging. She wants to feel perky and seductive which means Support Those Babies.
- Be aware that some sexy little outfits do not list a cup size. This means there is no support, which is fine in some cases, such as shelf bras or open corsets.
Now that you know our tricks for accentuating our assets and hiding our challenges you should have an easier time of picking something out.
Remember that women use their minds for sexual foreplay. We can get excited thinking about that night of play. So if a woman thinks she looks good, she will feel good and you are half way to that night you have been planning. If you have some other suggestions please leave me a comment. Good luck and enjoy.
