Have you ever browsed the internet looking for porn and forgotten to clear the browser history before stepping away? If you have kids in the house this can be disastrous.
Well our friends at Google have come to our aid. The new browser application, Google Chrome, allows for private surfing which clears your browser and search histories when you close the browser. This great feature is aptly titled Incognito Mode. Here’s the official explanation from the Chrome help page.
You’ve gone incognito. Pages you view in this window won’t appear in your browser history or search history, and they won’t leave other traces, like cookies, on your computer after you close the incognito window. Any files you download or bookmarks you create will be preserved, however.
They even made it simple to change into Icognito Mode.
- PC and Linux users click the tools menu and select New icognito window or use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+N
- Mac users go to the File menu and select New Icognito Window or use the keyboard shortcut ⌘+Shift+N
Yeah! Now I can surf and shop without fear of being caught by young prying eyes or curious husbands. Thanks Google!
